The original gold Krugerrand coin first minted by South Africa in 1967. The largest of the Krugerrands, it has a diameter of 32.6 millimeters. It weighs 33.9305 grams and contains one troy ounce of pure gold. The remainder of the balance is copper, hence the orange hue. The gold alloy of the Krugerrand is 91.67 percent pure. In other words, it is 22 karat gold.
