This is the smallest of the gold Krugerrand coins. The 1/10oz Krugerrand was first issued by South Africa in 1980 with a mintage of 857,000. As with the other Krugerrand coins, the 1997 mintage was only 30 coins, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the first issuance of the gold Krugerrand.
The 1/10 oz Krugerrand contains exactly .1000 ounces of pure gold. Like the other Krugerrands, it is 91.7% pure (22 karat), alloyed with copper. The coins total weight is 3.39 grams or .109 troy ounces. The coin's diameter is 16.5 millimeters.
In common with the other Krugerrands, one side of the coin features a bust of Paul Kruger, first president of the South African Republic, and the other side depicts the famous symbol of South Africa, the Springbok antelope.
